The Turanza LS with UNI-T AQII tires featuring H-, V- or Z-speed
ratings are Bridgestone’s Grand Touring All-Season tires developed to meet the
needs of the drivers of sporty coupes and luxury performance sedans by blending
responsive handling and comfort with dry, wet and year-round traction, even in
light snow. Turanza LS tires feature UNI-T AQII Technology that uses advanced
tread compound and construction features to enhance and preserve wet traction
through the tire’s life. The Turanza LS with UNI-T AQII in H-, V- and Z-speed
ratings keeps wet traction up…even as it wears.
On the outside, Turanza LS tires mold a Super Long Link Carbon Black, Dual Layer
Tread II compound that resists aging into a symmetric tread design that provides
for the ability to rotate tires to maximize tread life. Continuous center and
shoulder ribs help reduce noise while providing constant road contact to enhance
straight-line stability. Internally, Turanza LS tires feature a Computer
Optimized-Component System (CO-CS) that optimizes tread design, casing shape,
materials and manufacturing methods to improve handling and treadwear. Turanza
LS tires feature twin, high-tensile steel belts with spiral-wrapped nylon
reinforcement to stabilize the tread area and enhance handling, high speed
capability and ride quality while minimizing weight. Additionally, a single
strand of steel that is spirally wound forms Bridgestone’s O-Beads that are
rounder for a better fit to the wheel and to further enhance handling and ride
Bridgestone Turanza LS tires with H-, V- or Z-speed ratings feature black
sidewall styling with subtle black letters reversed out of a stylized sidewall.
Turanza LS with UNI-T AQII tires are available in H-, V- or Z-speed rated, 70-,
65-, 60-, 55-, 50- and 45-series sizes for 14" to 17" wheel diameters.
To better understand how far these premium tires have evolved, The Tire Rack
team conducted a Real World Road Ride and Performance Track Drive, comparing the
Bridgestone Turanza LS-T, Goodyear Aquatred 3 and Michelin HydroEdge. We used
2003 BMW 330Ci coupes, and installed BMWs "standard model" tire size with
205/55R16 tires mounted on 16x7.5" wheels specially designed to clear the larger
front brakes on E46 chassis 330Ci BMWs. Our evaluation used new, full tread
We also included a fourth, 2003 BMW 330Ci fitted with the Original Equipment
205/50R17 Goodyear Eagle RS-A High Performance All-Season tires mounted on
factory 17x7.0" wheels. We have included this vehicle/tire combination as a
control in other tire evaluations, and have found it to be a good benchmark.
Since the line dividing premium Passenger All-Season tires from Standard
Touring All-Season tires categories is not always clearly defined (and is often
crossed as consumers compare products when making their selection), this
evaluation includes tires from both categories. Modest differences in design, or
intended purpose as set forth by the tire manufacturers can place a tire into
one category or the other. In addition to evaluating the differences between
each of the tires, we also wanted to get a better understanding of some of the
differences between these two tire categories.
In general, Premium Passenger All-Season tires are intended to provide long
mileage, a quiet ride and predictable handling. Standard Touring All-Season
tires are designed to blend a performance tire's bold appearance and handling
with a passenger tire's long treadwear and smooth, quiet ride.
Turanza LS-T Standard Touring All-Season tire features UNI-T AQII Technology
that uses advanced tread compound and construction features to enhance and
preserve wet traction through the tire's life. On the outside, Turanza LS tires
mold Bridgestone's second-generation dual layer tread compound into a symmetric
tread design. The dual layer tread compound is designed to enhance wet grip from
day one, and also to counteract the negative effects of aging on wet traction as
the tire wears. The non-directional tread pattern allows for full tire rotation
to maximize tire life. Continuous center and shoulder ribs help reduce noise
while providing constant road contact to enhance straight-line stability.
Internally, Turanza LS tires feature a Computer Optimized-Component System
(CO-CS) that optimizes tread design, casing shape, materials and manufacturing
methods to improve handling and treadwear. Twin, high-tensile steel belts with
spiral-wrapped nylon reinforcement stabilize the tread area and enhance
handling, high-speed capability and ride quality while minimizing weight.
Additionally, a single strand of steel that is spirally wound forms each bead
wire to further enhance handling and ride quality.
Out on the road, our team found the Turanza LS-T comfortable and quiet,
giving it the highest scores of the group for ride and noise comfort.
Overall road handling was good, but not quite as crisp and precise as the
On the test track in the dry, the Turanza LS-T provided reasonable precision
and handling appropriate for a Standard Touring All-Season tire. The Turanza
LS-T felt stable during steady cornering, but was not as secure under hard
When the test track was wet, the Turanza LS-T again provided a reasonable
level of handling, but could not match the wet traction of the Michelin
